Camp Readiness Policy
Camp Readiness: To ensure a fun and safe camp experience for all children registered, children attending camp must be able to adhere to our camp readiness guidelines. Please review the following camp readiness checklist with your child:
Participant is able to take and follow direction and instruction from a staff person
Participant is comfortable in large and small group environments
Participant is able to interact safely and appropriately with staff, campers and equipment
It is our hope that every child will be able to demonstrate solid camp readiness and we will use every strategy available to us to ensure that each child is successful however, if your child demonstrates that they are not camp ready, the following process will be followed:
- You will be notified of the situation at the end of the camp day, by someone from the Mad Science office. We will ask you for additional strategies and suggestions regarding the best way to help your child succeed at camp.
- If during the next camp day, despite the collaborative efforts of our staff and your child, the behaviours are still persisting, you will be asked to come and pick your child up from camp.
- No refunds will be given for children who are removed from camp due to lack of camp readiness.
- If your child's behaviour has caused direct harm to another child or Mad Science staff, you will be asked to come immediately to remove them from camp. If we feel that there is no danger of this behaviour occurring again, they will be allowed to return to camp the following day. Upon returning to camp, any similar behaviour will result in immediate and permanent removal from camp for the rest of the week.
