In-Person Camps

Many families require in person child care so we would like to help. We will be offering in person camps at our Mad Science Laboratory which is located in Burlington at Guelph Line and Mainway. We offer kids full-day camp experiences that are sure to be safe as well as entertaining and delightful! They will be wowed by green glowing liquid, messages written in secret code, and even autonomous robots.

Making Camp Safe

Our facility is 4200 square feet. The camp room we will be using is nearly 400 square feet and we will be limiting these camps. Our office area is separate and isolated from the camp room so there will be little to no interaction between campers and the two or three people working in the office during the day. The room will remain quarantined 24 hours a day throughout the week to only the campers and their Mad Scientist. There is a private washroom that will only be used by the campers.

Masks will NOT be mandatory in our facility as per Health Guidelines. Hand Sanitizer will be available all day. There will be supervised hand washing several times a day including immediately upon arrival. All equipment brought into the camp room will be fully disinfected before and after every use. Several times each day, we will be sanitizing all surfaces that the children will be touching, as well as taking other precautions such as utilizing single use items where possible. Distancing will be in full effect as best we can manage.

We are asking for parents to do a self-screening for the presence of symptoms (fever of 100.4 °F or greater, cough, shortness of breath, diarrhea, fatigue, headache, muscle aches, nausea, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, vomiting, etc.) during the camp and during the two weeks prior. Mad Science will be taking the temperatures of each camper as they arrive to camp to ensure the safety of all campers. There will be one dedicated staff member for your child's group. The staff member may be relieved by another staff member for short breaks during the day. We will be having parents drop off outside the camp room to minimize the amount of people in the camp room and to follow childcare licensing procedures.

We will be taking the campers to the park multiple times a day. The park is just a short walk up the street and we use it every year for camp. Rocket Launches will continue!

If demand for our in-person camps is as strong as it has been the last couple of years, we have the ability at our facility to run a SECOND camp. If there were to be two camps, the two groups would never interact or share equipment in any way. The two camp rooms are on different floors, have separate washrooms and are completely isolated from one another. They even have different HVAC systems.

We are not opening the second camps today. If you see that a camp you want to register for is full, we strongly suggest you put yourself on the wait list. We only need 3 names on the wait list to split the group into two camps. We will be monitoring the lists in real time. If the list populates sufficiently, we will open the second camp and notify you immediately, in order of who wait listed first.

Thank you all for your previous support of Mad Science and during this difficult period. We are a small organization trying our best to navigate these challenging times and continually working to find ways to keep children active, engaged and learning without knowing they are learning!

Please note: We will be closely monitoring updated safety protocols as they are announced and will adjust practices accordingly.
